A beautiful location and a great walk after some tricky driving. This 4x4 only and, because of a hazard referenced below, full sand equipment must be carried.
The day started with a very different objective - to find the mythical cache we have called Miracle Cache No 1. It is not posted and the co-ordinates we had were incomplete. We had hoped that some reserch in the Wadi Nissah area would lead us to the cache but we had a "red herring" at the outset.
Having sorted out the "red herring" and crossed Wadi Nissah we followed other, accurate, waypoints which we suspected were a pointer to where we has to go. Not so.
What we did find was an extremely interesting area and some of the side Wadi's are worth a trip in themselves. We crossed N24.13.006 E046.52.570 (This is a hazard needing full equipment - sand ladders and compressors - while we had little difficulty, being winter, the return over this sand ascent will be very difficult in summer and probably requires "airdown").
We found ourselves 1.75k from target but with a very inviting Wadi to the side. While no-one leaves a cache with a 1.75k walk we thought it was worth a walk and it was really facinating. About 720m in we reached a waterfall with some low level caves (The cache is not in the caves).
A really nice area but there is a little scramble to the cache which is above the waterfall. It is also well worthwhile to climb out of the wadi, at this point, for a view over the area - well worth it.
The cache is visible if you are looking at the right spot - it is not intended to be hard to find - getting here is the challenge.
Definately need a picnic to reach this but worth the effort for the scenery. We acknowledge Steve and Patricia Decato for the information leading to this great day out.
