This is a quick 4-step cache covering about 4 miles by car and a short .12 mile hike by foot. Each step feeds the next. Be alert for traffic, poison oak (off the path), and falling in the stream.
A long time ago, when the land was covered by water there lived 3 mermaids. Athena Star, Aphrodite Star, and their jealous step-sister, Hera Star. Their bountiful treasure was placed in a chest and hidden by their father. Each sister held only one clue to its location to prevent any one of them from taking all the treasure for herself.
Though the water has receded, the treasure remains for some lucky explorers to find. To break the code and find the treasure, you must visit the resting places of the 3 mermaids. There will be a clue at each place that will direct you to the next location.
Your journey begins at N 32 49.940 and W 117 09.953. You will find Aphrodite pictured afloat in a green ring with three stars above her. Aphrodite, the big sister, was a very big girl. Her size was a source of pride to her. So proud was she that she put her weight on the door of her resting place. Add this number to the numbers in parentheses of the following coordinates:
N 32 49.(368) and W 117 12.294.
Follow that course to the resting place of Athena.
You will find the mermaid, Athena, also afloat in a green ring with three stars above her. Entranced by her own beauty, Athena fed her fascination by surrounding herself with looking glasses. Count the number of panes of glass facing the setting sun. Use this number to add to the number in parentheses in the following coordinates:
N 32 49.202 and W 117 10.(4)06.
Follow that course to find her sister's resting place.
Hera, jealous of her sisters' physical attributes, consoled herself with counting her jewels. She had a most impressive collection of pearls. On her resting place, you will find the number of pearls in her collection. Add that number to the numbers in parentheses:
N 32 4(5.423).
Add the number again to the numbers in parentheses that follow:
W 117 (07.470)
This will guide you to the Treasure of the Three Stars.
Park at those coordinates with these modifications
add 00 00.070 to the N lattitude
subtract 00 00.119 from the W longitude
