Geocache Description:

This is an event to celebrate all that is good about caching...(family, friends, milestones, and fun).

Ramblin Rover and JeeperDad are each going to celebrate there 1,000 find by going to get The Bull Dog Mountain cache placed by A&N Carlson.

We decided to find this cache together as our #1,000 to pay tribute to our departed caching friend Arnold Carlson.

The Hike
Come take a short climb up a mountain side to find this cache. Its steep, but short, only about 1/3 of a mile to the cache from the bottom. Currently there isn't enough snow to need snowshoes, but if that changes we'll post a note here. But you will want boots to keep your feet dry. We plan to leave at noon, to let it warm up a little, and to give people driving from further away time to get there. Then we'll come back down for lunch.

Everyone is invited
We have reserved the City Building in Eureka. If you don't think you want to try the climb to find the cache, come out anyway, enjoy the company of some great cachers, swap stories, take time to relax from the holiday rush, and have a bowl or two of chile and some hot chocolate. Thankyou JJAC for helping us with the logistics of the event.

There are multiple other caches around Eureka that are accessable for those who haven't been out this way caching.

A little History
Bull Dog Mountain cache is actually a transplant of an earlier cache in Eureka called the Ghost Town Blue Bell Mine cache by DANTONIVS. It was Arnold's first cache find. Later when the EPA closed the area where the cache was located he took it and moved it to Bull Dog Mountain.

Arnold loved to cache and to meet other cachers at events, out on the trail, or while chasing another Cach-u-nut. He especially loved to take his grandchildren out geocaching. He and his wife Nadine have come to many event caches, and have created numerous friendships all around the state.

Lunch
Lunch will be PotLuck (sorry I didn't specify that earlier).

  • JeeperDad is bringing a crock-pot of Chile.
  • JJAC is making homemade soup.
  • Ramblin Rover, R&J Hope and KimBest are bringing Cookies, Donuts, and Dessert respectively.
Everyone else, please bring something you'd like to share, if you want to send me a note I'll add it to the list above.
We'll also have Hot Chocolate and Coffee available.

Please post a note if you plan on coming so we have an idea about how many to count on.

  • Additional Hints (No hints available.)
