Geocache Description:

The building is of great historical value, even though there has been some remodelling done.

The corner stone of this building was placed in 1859. It is the oldest building of it's kind built of wood in continuous use in the state, possibly west of the Mississippi. It took 10 years to build. The building still has it's hand hewn beams, two of which can bee seen inside. An expansion to the building was completed in the 1970's. It was build prior to the block house in the city park was moved to it's current location.

There are several stained glass windows that were built in Germany and brought around the horn in the 1880's. One was damaged by someone throwing a rock through it, but plans are to have it rebuilt in 2005.

Ledgend has it that it is the first building of it's kind in Oregon to have indoor plumbing.

The cach is a red ammo can.
