------"RING EAR" JOHNSON'S Cache------
In 1854 "Ring Ear" Sam Johnson constructed a house along the Fayetteville & Western Plank Road. The house located a mile or so from this spot served as an inn to accommodate wearry travelers along the plank road.
At the time it was a 3 day trip from Fayetteville to Winston Salem by horse and wagon along the Plank Road. It seems Mr Johnson fancied himself a bit of a pirate, hence the nickname "Ring Ear", this was long before it became acceptable for a man to wear an earring (other then pirates).
It currently serves as a private dwelling, and stands on the south side of NC 24/27 in Johnsonville Township.
This cache is in honor of Mr. Johnson for whom Johnsonville is named, he was truly a man ahead of his time.
Container is a large ammo can.
This cache is on private property with my familys knowledge and approval, so please be respectful of the property.
Park at closest driveway on the same side of the road as the cache. Roadside parking is possible, (I have done it myself) but not advised, especially if you have children with you. Carefully proceed to the coordinates. No bushwacking required!
Please sign log and leave the date and time.
If anyone asks what you are doing simply say "geocaching", they are aware of the cache.
Congratulations to blackcat96 for the FTF!!
