Geocache Description:

Beautiful and historic area in Colliers, Conception Bay, NL. Easy access by foot, but the last few steps are a doozie :) There are at least 18 geocaches within a six mile radius of Colliers so that fact (plus the beautiful scenery) makes it definitely worth a trip out from the city.

Just in time for Christmas we hid, "Santa's a Bayman Cache" full of cool trinkets that you can enjoy at any point of the year. PLEASE NOTE: This is a permanent cache intended to be used at any time...not just limited to the holidays :)

Cache is a well hidden white beef bucket (with red lid) concealed in a place that really is all it's cracked up to be ;)

The "Bottom of Colliers Harbour" was once the site of a vibrant community unto itself. Now it has reverted to woods and pasture land, but it is full of ghost stories and (allegedly) pirate's treasure...although we've never found any ;)

Park at starting cooridinates of N 47.29.077 and W 053.11.152 to begin your hike. The dirt road does continue on past this point, but I would not dare risk it in any vehicle that I was still moderately fond of :)

It is only about .35 miles to the cache as the crow flies so please enjoy the scenery and maybe make a sidetrip to the solitary historic headstone which is directly on your route. (Bonus points if you e-mail either of us the name and statistics of the individual buried there ;)

The trail is gentle with only one big hill. When you get to the cache location, remember, this is "Santa's A Bayman Cache" and think about how he would come into a house. It's not hard, but please watch your step :)

Contents at time of hiding were:

Logbook
First Finders Certificate
Pencils
Christmas Ornaments
Flashlight
Sports Whistle
New Deck of Cards
2005/2006 Day Planner
Keychains (Several)
Lots of Money in different denominations (Play of course;)
Toy Cars
Other Miscellaneous Items

And the "PT Cruiser Travel Bug".

This is the First of a series of caches Flynnsbeach and Bittesticks hid and have left a codeword in the cache logbook. Keep a note of it. Eventually we will have a prize for those who find ANY TEN of them :)

Hope you like it and have fun!

Thanks Flynnsbeach and Bittensticks!
