A few months ago, we made a trip to Sunol to get our last unfound
cache in the park. On the map, I noticed a trail marked "W" Tree
that looked like it would take us towards our destination. When we
got to the trailhead, I had to look at the map again - that's when
I noticed the "Rock Scramble" attached to the rest of the "trail"
name. We decided to give it a try anyway and ended up getting a
good workout before hitting the McCorkle Trail. On the way, we
noticed a nice place to hide a small cache.
I've been back several times since. The cache is located about 2
miles from the nearest parking and about a 0.4 mile scramble from
the Camp Ohlone Road. I've made the one-way trip from the "W" Tree
to the cache location in under 20 minutes.
As of 11/18/07 the cache is a decon container containing a GBA
pin, a Yosemite non-trackable geocoin, and a couple foreign coins
(along with a pen and a pencil).
As of 11/25/09 the cache is an ammo can.
As of 4/22/11 the cache is a decon container.
