Although I have had to relocate the second checkpoint due to it having become inaccessible from the beach (15+ years of sea buck thorn growth!) I have tried to keep to the spirit of the original listing. Whilst it is possible to drive quite close to stage 2, I would recommend parking at the coordinates listed and enjoy the walk down the quieter dune path.
Starting with easy parking on the seafront (N 53° 08.154 E000° 20.706), I advise wellies if the ground is wet.
It's a short walk to the first checkpoint. Here you have a great view of the offshore wind turbines. The item that held the first set of coordinates has been removed so they are here for ease:
N 53° 07.313 E 000° 20.521.
On the obvious feature at checkpoint 2, you will need to work out the coordinates for the final.
Looking at the sign, use the first six digit number (ignore the dialling code), allocate the letters M to R to the digits. i.e. first digit = M, second digit = N etc
N53 AB.CDE E000 FG.HIJ
Where
A =O-P
B = N+O
C = P-Q
D = M-N
E = M
F = N
G = O-Q
H = M
I = R
J = G
The cache contains the usual log-book and pen. Please don't leave any TBs as they seem to have a habit of going missing :(. A short walk back to your car concludes a 3.5 km round trip. Singing 'VIVA SKEGVEGAS' in the style of Elvis, whilst walking the route, will greatly enhance your enjoyment during this search!
Many thanks to flightexpants for placing this cache.
