Where the wind god, Tawhiri-Matea, looks over the remains of an ancient volcano.
A few kilometres from Akaroa, there's a "Heritage Park" with many examples of native and Australian flora. They're all labeled, which is a boon for visitors who decrypt cache clues and wonder what a young kowhai tree looks like!
Park at S43° 47.963, E172° 59.878 and follow the path.
Once you've met TawhiriMatea
then you're very close to a shelter from his winds and a cache!
The cache is a 1.5l camo-tape-covered plastic box, invisible until you uncover it. (Please re-cover it when you're finished.)
