LAGNIAPPE Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

MadMin: I attempted to contact the owner of LAGINAPPE to find out about the status of this cache on November 8, 2006. I have received no response from the owner on the cache page or via email. Because of that I'm afraid I have to archive this cache.

I will be more than happy to review this cache again and (hopefully) reinstate it once you have corrected any issues with the cache. please contact me through my profile to do so.

Please note that unarchiving a cache page places it through the same review process as a newly proposed cache, using the cache placement guidelines currently in effect.

Geocache Description:

No bushwacking required, Cache is off an old cart road. Cache is in a clear tupperware type container.

Lagniappe derives from New World Spanish la ñapa, “the gift,” and ultimately from Quechua yapay, “to give more.” The word came into the rich Creole dialect mixture of New Orleans and there acquired a French spelling. It is still used in the Gulf states, especially southern Louisiana, to denote a little bonus that a friendly shopkeeper might add to a purchase. By extension, it may mean “an extra or unexpected gift or benefit.” I hope those that find this cache will find their unexpected gift or benefit. While visiting Lagniappe please take note of the pedestrian bridge spanning the Quinnebaug River and enjoy the view. Original Contents include: Car Dashboard signs-Gone Geocaching, Mardi Gras Beads, crayons, pins
