Geocache Description:

Castle Hill Fort is a hillfort which still has two impressive embankments, and far-reaching views over the surrounding countryside including RAF Fairford.

This cache is suitable for children.

WARNING: DO NOT PARK IN THE LAY-BYBY THE FOOTPATH AT THE TOP OF THE HILL. A visitor was shut in behind a padlocked gate here

This hillfort was built in a commanding position over the surrounding countryside and is now largely forgotten at the end of a no-through road. The embankments are still impressive on two sides and the views are excellent.

The field is now used for sheep which are overseen by a Llama. Dogs are permitted on leads, presumably only if they are "sheep and Llama-friendly" (I don't know if the Llama is dog-friendly, he's there to protect the sheep). Please keep to the paths which are clearly signposted. The cache is well away from the hillfort, a very short distance from the path. Beware the old barbed wire nearby.

The suggested parking for this cache is by the Cemetery at the side of the road. Then walk to the end of the road and follow the footpath.

Boots are essential after wet weather, there is s steep slope which could be quite treacherous without care.
