Geocache Description:

A roadside park owned by the Dickinson County Historical Society. A quick drop and easy find off of Interstate 70. If you are crossing the state, you can grab this cache quickly and get a little histroy lesson to boot!

You are looking for an ammocan, in the typical Olive Drab. The cache is on fairly level surfaces and close to the active Union Pacific Railway, so please pay close attention when you exit off of Old US 40 and cross the RR tracks. The coal trains come through here several times a day. They are loaded very heavy while eastbound and empty coming west. With three engines and 120 cars, they are long, heavy and represent a real threat to passenger vehicles.

The container originally contained the Rocky TB, a real high miler of a travel bug and The Screamer TB. Also included were miscellaneous toys we bought with intentions of making travel bugs out of them. A Kool Aid Tennis player, a Hula Girl, Minnie Mouse, A Lady and a Tramp, a Dalmation, two frogs, a football mouse and a whale. Also included were pamphlets for the Heritage Center in Abilene. A really nice museum which includes the Museum of Telephony and a large variety of historical items. I really enjoyed seeing one of Wild Bill Hickok's first revolvers. Could it be the one he killed his friend with in Abilene?

The first time we visited, the park had not been mowed for quite some time, the native grasses were about waist deep, beautiful, but hide everything within. Rather than ruin the visit by describing the site, I encourage you to go visit yourself. This is a much easier find than most of our caches, but the history of the location makes this one worthwhile.
