This is a traditional cache located on an old minesite near the Hamlet of Brule.
Cache is a White Rubbermaid Container. Contents are: Golf Ball, Yo-yo, Twin Doggie Travel Bug, Forest Protection Keyring, Maui Fridge Magnet, Hansel & Gretel Viewer, Bertie the Beaver Pin, Hillbilly False Teeth.
The mountain hamlet of Brule (200 people)was once a thriving coal mining town of 3000 people, complete with hotel, hockey arena, golf course, etc. When the Blue Diamond Mine shut down in 1927, the mine buildings remained standing, and over time have crumpled to the ground. Remains of these building are scattered in the wood above the townsite.
Within the old minesite, up the hill from town are the minimal remains of the old powerhouse - identifiable by the firebrick stubwalls with steam pipes through them. Be careful around the site, as there are some shallow pits, etc. you could trip into. These are visible, so keep your eyes peeled.
The Geocache is in a mature aspen stand with a relatively heavy undergrowth of spruce and aspen, but a semi-overgrown path leads up to it from the old railroad grade.
