The Rockpile Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Team Bandito: I had to pull this one because it was in Anza Borrego State Park and violated the "Leave No Trace" policy that I support and teach to my Boy Scouts. Sorry.

Geocache Description:

A great drive and walk in desert!

This is a breeze. Head out to Ocotillo, east on Interstate 8 at the bottom of Mountain Springs grade. Get off at Ocotillo and County S-2 and head towards Anza Borrego State Park. Here you will have to do some research. You will have to take the road to Dos Cabezas primitive camp(Earthwalk Press makes the best map of the area, but you can get one from the State Park people also.)The cache is before you get to Dos Cabezas, just off the road. If you get to the camp, turn around! It is a black metal tool box hidden in a crack in a rock(it is hidden well, you will have look for it). It has a log in it and a few trinkets(I forgot to inventory what we put in it). After you find it explore the area. Mortero Palms is just up the road and there is a spring at Dos Cabezas. The wild life is incredible around there. You may want to take a high clearance vehicle up there as the road is getting a bit rough, but I have seen 40ft. motorhome and a 280Z up there! Climb the rocks and enjoy the view of the desert!

UPDATE!!
The cache is now a small ammo box.
