Geocache Description:

This cache is placed in a once very wealthy Pyrenees gold mining area which also has a great view of the surrounding area.

Most of the shafts sunk in this area were done with the hope of discovering gold. Many prospectors were lucky far more were not. Although this shaft that the cache was hidden in was constructed after the gold rush period, it is one of the unfortunate ones that only bears silver.

Although gravel the track in is well maintained and suitable for 2WD vehicles. The easiest access is from the parking bay SE of the cache area from which you will have approximately a 200m walk to GZ. If you have a 4WD or 2WD with a lot of ground clearance you can drive almost to the cache site. Bring your camera and /or binoculars as there is a lookout tower very close by.

The cache is a 200ml cliptop container so small swaps only. The cache container contains a small pencil, however, it might pay to bring your own pen. Please use the usual care when retrieving and replacing the cache as walkers can sneak up quickly.
