This is a small but fascinating park, not only contains pieces of our early history but also an insight into one of our unique mammals.
At the above coordinates you will find a viewing platform and a lot of very interesting information about the platypus. These are best viewed at dawn or dusk but may be occasionally sighted during the day. Before you leave make sure you look inside the former police stables for information regarding the area and local history. Also be sure to stop at S 37° 41.165 E 143° 21.882 where you will find a rare example of an early portable building from the gold rush days. Originally the building was located at Government Camp Fiery Creek and was moved to this site in 1867 and used as a courthouse. Presently it is being used as a museum.
Further along at S 37° 41.170 E 143° 21.847 you will find a monument and an avenue of honour to the twelve men of the community that lost their lives in WWII.
