Geocache Description:

Distance Runners and Cyclists sometimes pass by this area when doing "Excursions Around the Bay", hence the name "Ridge Runners Cache". There are at least 18 geocaches within a six mile radius of Colliers so that fact (plus the beautiful scenery) makes it definitely worth a trip out from the city.

A truly beautiful location for an unofficial scenic lookout over Colliers Harbour. This is (in all likelihood) one of the most extensvely photographed areas along Route 60.

If the weather is cooperating, bring a camera and see for yourself :)

Postcards with images from this vantage point dating back to the late 1940s / early 1950s were on sale in stores in St.John's decades ago. Legend has it that this was also one of the favourite spots for former Premier Joseph Smallwood to bring visitors to demonstrate the natural beauty of the province as in the days prior to the development of the TransCanada it was on the major route for traffic.

This is a quick and easy cache consisting of a small white beef bucket less than 300 feet off the road. It is hidden in a tree to make it accessible year round. Please take care in rehiding it carefully as this can be an area that gets a number of spectators at times.

This is the third in a series of caches being hidden by Flynnsbeach and Bittensticks. Make note of the codeword in the logbooks as there will be a special prize for those geocachers who find ANY TEN of them :)

Care and caution are (as always) advised as there is no official parking spot and the surrounding rocks can be very slippery when wet or icy.

Cache contents at the time of hiding were:

Log Book
Pencils
Sharpener
First Finders Certificate
Tennis Ball
Money in many denominations (Play of course)
Skate Board
Necklace
Toy Plane
Crayons

Good Luck !!!!

Flynnsbeach and Bittensticks
