The second is via the Wye Valley path which goes along the Wye River all the way to Tintern. It passes Piercefield Park which can be reached by another footpath. The Wye Valley path is quite steep in places and slippery. Not buggy friendly at all! But you can do a circular walk via the easy path and back to the car park along the Wye Valley path (or the other way round!). Total distance is about 2.7 miles (car park to cache about 1.4 miles). First route: From the car park go back onto the road and walk up the rise. At the top is a brick/stone wall with an arch through it. This is the start of the footpath at N 51° 38.819 W 002° 41.281. Just follow the path through the trees – best of luck getting a signal!! Don’t worry, the park is clear of tree cover!. Second route: This starts in the car park at N 51° 38.762 W 002° 40.939. The path to Piercefield Park branches off at approx N 51° 39.513 W 002° 40.838. You can view the location on the Ordnance Survey maps here. The cache is a small round clip lock box. It's underneath the spreading (sweet) chestnut tree. On the south side - that's the side with the view. **Warning** The ruined house and outbuildings are dangerous and have warning signs on them. They are behind fences. Do not be tempted to explore. Stick to the waymarked footpaths.
