Dieser Cache ist in einem sehr naturbelassenen Gebiet auf der Donauinsel versteckt. Von den Headerkoordinaten bis zum Cache sind es knapp über 2 km, inklusive Rückweg eine ca. 4 km lange Strecke, die ihr sowohl mit dem Mountainbike (Rennrad ist nicht empfehlenswert) als auch wunderbar zu Fuß bewältigen könnt. Ich empfehle die Runde zu Fuß, bewaffnet mit einer Kamera, da ihr so erst die Schönheit dieses Wiener Naturdenkmals "Toter Grund" voll auskosten könnt. (Weitere Info sh. related webpage)
Da es im Sommer hier nur so von Gelsen wimmelt, empfehle ich, den Cache nicht unbedingt im Juli/August zu besuchen. Am schönsten ist es von Oktober bis Mai. Ich möchte auch vorwarnen, dass man in der Vegetationsperiode nur schwer bis gar nicht mit dem Fahrrad die letzten 30 Meter bis zum Doserl erreichen kann. Ihr müsst das Fahrrad dann am Weg stehen lassen. Wer Angst um sein Rad hat, kommt am besten zu Fuß oder nimmt jemanden mit, der einstweilen das Rad bewacht ;)
ACHTUNG! Der "Tote Grund" ist zur warmen Jahreszeit ein beliebter Schwulen-Treff! Also, nicht erschrecken, ihr könntet auf nackte Männer treffen, wenn ihr den unteren (Fuß-)Weg nehmt! ;)
Stage 1 (Header):
N1 = 48° 11.653
E1 = 016° 27.905
Gesucht ist der Name des Bezirkes, in dem Ihr Euch befindet. Nehmt den 4. Buchstaben dieses Namens für a und wandelt ihn in eine Zahl nach bekanntem Schema um ( A= 1, B= 2, etc.).
Nun nehmt den 1. Buchstaben des Namens für b und wandelt ihn ebenfalls in eine Zahl um. Die Anzahl der Buchstaben des Bezirksnamens nehmt für c.
Stage 2:
N2 = N1 - (a6b) (den Klammerausdruck nicht multiplizieren, nur die Ziffern aneinanderreihen)
E2 = E1 - c

N3= N2 - (33 *d)
E3= E2 + (33*d + c)
Nun müsstet Ihr bei einigen Steinen am Weg angekommen sein. Die Anzahl der Steine nehmt für e.
Es geht weiter.
Nach etwa 380 m gelangt ihr an eine Weggabelung, an der rechts eine Infofafel steht. Wenn ihr mit dem Fahrrad unterwegs seid, fahrt am besten geradeaus weiter. Fußgängern lege ich aber den Weg nach rechts hinunter ans Herz, auf dem ihr zur Stage 4 gelangt. Radfahrer können diese Stage auch auslassen, dafür ist die Berechnung von Stage 5 etwas schwieriger ;)
Beide Wege kommen nach ca. 700 m wieder zusammen.
Stage 4:
N4 = N3 - (63*e)
E4 = E3 + (122*d)
Blickt hier nach Westen - was seht ihr?

Stage 5 für Fußgänger:
N5 = N 48° 10.(XXX)
E5 = E 016° 28.(YYY)

Stage 5 für Radfahrer:
N5 = N3 - (33*d + 5*d*e*b)
E5 = E3 + (9*e*d *b + e*b*c + d + c - 9*c)
Hier seht ihr ein rundes Schild, auf dem eine Zahl steht. Nehmt diese Zahl für f.
Stage 6 - Der Cache:
N6 = N5 - (f*4 + 2)
E6 = E5 - f*20
Ihr solltet Euch nun bei einem Objekt befinden, aus dessen Wurzeln 5 Stämme in den Himmel ragen. In der Mitte werdet ihr den Cache finden.

Der Cache ist eine ca. 400 ml große Lock&Lock-Dose und beinhaltet neben ein paar Trading Items einen Stift und ein Logbuch sowie eine Stash Note (letztere bitte nicht mitnehmen).

18.5.2014: changed attributes from "dogs allowed" to "no dogs" although many dog owners take their dogs for a walk in this area. But the signs say so...
This cache is hidden in a very natural area on the Danube Island. From the header coordinates to the cache it is just about 2 km. Including the way back the tour is approx. 4 km. You can either go by mountain bike (racing bike is not recommended) or walk. I really recommend to walk, armed with a camera, only then you can see the wild beauty of this Viennese natural monument "Toter Grund" ("Dead Ground", for further informations see related web site)
I do not recommend to visit the cache in July/August, because in Summer there are billions of mosquitos. Best time for this cache is from October until May. I also want to inform you that it is not(or hardly) possible to go closer than 30 meters to the hideout by bike because of the dense vegetation. You will have to leave your bike on the path. Those of you who fear for their bike better leave it at home and hike, or you take somebody with you to guard your bike while you search for the box ;)
CAUTION! The "Dead Ground" is a popular gay meeting place in the warm season. So, when you take the hiker's way be aware of coming across some naked men there ;)
Stage 1 (Header):

Find the name of the district in which you are now. Take the 4th letter of it, convert it into a number as follows: A = 1, B = 2 etc. and take it for a. Take the first letter of the name for b. Count the letters of the name for c.
Stage 2:

Count the pillars of the bridge that you just crossed over. Take the number as d.
Stage 3:

If you are right then you have reached some stones on your way. The number of all stones is e.
On you go.
After about 380 m you reach a fork of the path with an information board on your right. If you are riding the bike keep going straight ahead. If you are hiking I recommend to go down the path to your right, where you will reach stage 4. Bikers can skip this stage, but the formula for stage 5 is more difficult ;)
Both ways reunite after about 700 m.
