Goodwood Maple Surprise Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

TOMTEC: Visited at 18:35h accompanied by Elf and Chip the Beaver TB. Debated if I should replace the hiding mechanism (again) or just archive it this time. Unfortunately for those who have not found it yet, archive won the coin toss. I wish I had more time to play out in this end of town, but moving to Georgetown has put a bit of a crimp on my east end adventures.

Trails were in great shape and the bugs were minimal. Elf enjoyed the walk to the cache and snapped some great photos of the spring blooms. Once the cache was found, logged, and packed, the thunder started to roll, and we worked our way back to the Subaru, but, not before getting totally soaked in the process. All in all, a great day!

Thanks everyone for visiting!

Geocache Description:

Located along a section of the Oak Ridges Moraine Trail near Goodwood, Ontario.
Cache elevation: 335m

This cache was originally hidden as part of the Home on the Moraine series, but has now been transitioned to a regular cache hide.

You can enter the Conservation Area through the Oak Ridges Trail off 4th Concession at: N44° 02.076' W79° 10.140' or from a few other access points (for which I lost coordinates for) Bring your Mountain Bike (or suitable winter gear) and explore the other trails in the area. Check out the large operating gravel pit to the south!

The cache is a Camouflage Taped Screw Top Peanut Butter container hidden in true "Stumpy Style" in a Winter Friendly location!

The Oak Ridges Moraine extends 160 kilometres from the Niagara Escarpment in the west to the Trent River system in the east, and is on average 13 kilometres wide. One-hundred-and-fifty metres deep, the Moraine stands out as one of the most distinct landscapes of southern Ontario. Its height above the flat lands to the north and south, its rolling hills and river and stream valleys and large blocks of mixed forest provide solace and a sense of connection to the people who live, work and play on the Moraine, natural and wild habitat for flora and fauna, and untapped recreational opportunities.

NOTES:
  1. Watch out for Poison Ivy.
  2. Winter friendly.
  3. Night raid friendly.
  4. Family friendly.
