GCW - Lesnes Abbey Wood Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Master Mariner: Sadly, I am going to archive this cache. I recovered it today and found that the contents were in poor condition and the log was missing. Fortunately, there were no TBs registered in the cache.

Adam, who reported the cache as being compromised had collected the contents an replaced them and relocated the cache. However, it looks as though the cache has been compromised again as the lid was off and it was not hidden in its original hiding place.

The main reason for archiving, though, is that a part of a hypodermic syringe was in the cache. I suppose that is modern life and I do not expect anyone to come across this type of item in a cache.

Geocache Description:

One of a series of caches that will be placed along the Green Chain Walk (GCW) in southeast London.

The cache is in a regular sized, clear tupperware box and is located at the base of a tree. Parking is recommended at N51°29.406'; E000°07.738'. The cache contains a log book, pencil, "Mr Rat" TB (Ref: TB48AB), a dog poo bag (unused!) for the dog walkers, a couple of plastic toys, two AA batteries, a mini CD with a picture on it (please add your own picture and leave in another caches) and a US quarter dollar. In 1178 Sir Richard de Lucy (Chief Justice of England) built Lesnes Abbey from stone brought from Normandy. The Abbey was suppressed by Cardinal Wolsey under a Papal licence of 1524, and its income used to set up Christ’s College, Cambridge. After partial excavation in 1936 it was opened to the public in May 1939.

Free counters provided by Andale.
