In wooded area within 10 paces of the trail.
This is one of five caches the Ospreys have placed along the Gainesville-Hawthorne Trial to encourage folks to cycle, blade, walk or run the trail. The nearest parking lot is at least two miles away. The location can be a great spot for wildlife, including. gopher tortoises. Near the cache's location, we've seen wild turkeys, a hawk carrying a snake, and a 2-foot-long alligator. The cache is a 4" plastic tube about 10 paces from the trail. Bring your own pen. You do not have to go downhill into the stream. When you replace the cache, please place it back in the special notch or the tree with the roots to keep it from rolling down the slope.
