This cache has been placed at the Avenue of 444 Flags in Hermitage,
PA, which boasts the largest number of flying American flags in the
world! It is a beautiful sight, and it was erected in 1981 to
commemorate each of the 444 days that American hostages were held
in Iran. Now the flags serve as a memorial to their release as well
as each being dedicated to a late veteran for his/her service to
our nation. Inscription on a plaque on the Avenue: "To commemorate
the enduring vigil created by the raising of an American flag on
each day the 52 American citizens were held hostage in the country
of Iran. These flags served to remind us of the strength of
American patriotism and dedication to our nation's goals and
principles. This tablet will serve as a permanent memorial to
unyielding hope, love and concern for mankind worldwide." This is a
micro cache --bring a pen to sign the log. May God Bless
America!>
