Otis Harris, Jr. represented his state and country beautifully at the 2004 Athens Olympics. He won a gold and a silver medal in track; an amazing feat, considering he went to a high school that didn’t even have its own track. Instead, Harris would practice with the track team at Hinds AHS and then come here, to Good Hope Road to train. His track coach remarked in an article about Harris, “Our workouts weren't enough for Otis. When we finished, he was just getting started." He and his dad would bring a tape measure out along the road to mark off the distances and run sprints. Then, according to the paper, he’d put on his combat boots and run the pastures and hills for endurance. Mississippi is fortunate to be represented by many world-class athletes. Jerry Rice. Walter Payton. Steve McNair. Ruthie Bolton. And Otis Harris, Jr. The cache is a custom-cammied ammo can filled with goodies. Located on the right-of-way; no need to cross the fence. Property owners have not given permission to cross the fence. Enjoy!
