This is micro (very small micro at that) located at Courtney Road
Service Center. This is one of the newest parks in Henrico County.
I drive by this building every day, and I am very glad that Henrico
County took over this land and saved this building from wasting
away.
A little history on this park: This “house with canopy” style
service station was built around 1925 when there was an increase in
cars, improved roads and a decrease in the cost of gas. A 1940
Richmond Telephone Directory listed the site as the “Friendly
Service Station.” While being owned by the Barlow family, locals
recall the station/store being operated by Mr. Wiltshire. This
cache is a very small micro, so bring your own writing instrument.
Coordinates could be off by approximately 20 feet as there is a lot
of GPS bounce in the area. Also, nothing will need to be disturbed
and you will not have to leave the concrete to find this cache.
