Located in Kananaskis. An easy walk if you follow the marked and maintained trail from the Park Information Center. The trail will bring you to within 7 m of the cache before you have to head east off the trail. GPS signals bounce around in this area so look for the stump in the spoiler picture.
This stretch of the Kananaskis River between Widowmaker and Canoe Meadows is used for rafting, canoeing, kayaking and whitewater racing, thus the cache name ‘Splash n Dash’. The cache is not far from a river feature originally named Santa Claus, now known as ‘Santa Claus on Steroids’ after some enhancements to it by the whitewater enthusiasts. It seemed only fitting that a ‘Film Canister on Steroids’ should be used for the cache container. There is an excellent spot for viewing the kayaks and rafts coming over Santa Claus about 30 m west of the cache. Exercise caution near the river as water levels can change extremely quickly (ask Mr. Canoehead for a personal account of how fast this can happen). Please ensure the lid on the cache is screwed back on tightly when done.
