Geocache Description:

This is the second in the "Da" Series of caches to be placed by The Callan Crew. This large cache is located near a very interesting diversion for folks that often goes unnoticed--even by locals. It is located just off Interstate-40 at the Aviation Parkway exit about 2 miles from the RDU airport.


The Chatham Hill Winery needed a nearby cache to introduce local folks and visitors to a really neat Triangle Area diversion, so we have obliged. Call ahead and they will give you a tour of the winery. The tour is fascinating even if you do not drink wine and your kids have no idea how the beverage is made.

As mentioned, this is the second cache in the "Da" Series, Write Da Check Baby being the first. The interesting thing about the "Da" Series caches are the containers. Accordingly, you will not be disappointed with this one.

You seek a gigantic grape. Now, we really mean extremely huge grape. In fact, this is likely going to be the largest grape you have ever seen. It is so large...well, come find it and see for yourself. This will be an easy find...we are going more for humor and the nearby diversion on this one.

The grape container splits down the middle into two halves. Each half encases is a large tubber ware container. One half contains high-quality wine related and themed items like cork pulls, wine bottle candle making kits, wine glass markers, a wine themed bracelet and decorative corks. The other half contains a variety of kids toys, puzzles and computer game CD. Most items in the cache value between $4 and $12, so let's try to keep the quality of the trades high on this cache and avoid used corks and McToys. NOTE: Please try to trade items in this cache to keep the items fresh.

We are launching the Chief Wino 3 TB in this cache at the request of the Chief Wino. We are also dropping off the Leaping Razorbacks TB to move it on its way.

You may want to bring a camera for this particular cache. The cache container and site are amusing and will give rise to some amusing photos. Also the nearby winery may offer some interesting shots as well.

REMINDER: Geocaching rules prohibit alcohol in caches, so please only leave wine-themed items, toys or geocaching themed items for trade--no wine.
