Geocache Description:

A micro cache coming out of Edwards, MS

Visit us at www.msga.net - Home of the Mississippi Geocachers Association

This stretch of Highway 22 from Edwards to Canton is named for former Central District Highway Commissioner W. Felder Dearman, by virtue of Section 65-3-71.21 in the Mississippi Code (approved April 14, 1992). He was a commissioner during the 60’s. Incidentally, one of Senator Thad Cochran’s earliest political experiences was campaigning with his father for Dearman by helping register voters for this election. The only other mention of Felder Dearman we could dig up was in the Neshoba Democrat in May 1963. The bridge over the Pearl River on State Highway 15 was complete, but Dearman commented that it would not be opened until the approaches were re-paved on either side of the bridge. If anyone else knows other notable information about this public figure, please feel free to post and share. We’d love to know, as Paul Harvey puts it, “… the rest of the story.”
