This micro is one of a series hidden along the Western Md. Rail
Trail. For hikers, the round trip is about forty miles. It is more
manageable on bike or roller blades. Parking is plentiful along
most of its length. Most bike enthusiasts prefer to park at its SE
terminus near Big Pool or in Hancock, which is roughly the
mid-point of the trail.
From the downstream side of this site, the Licking Creek
Aqueduct can be seen, and the Potomac River in the distance (when
leaves are down). Although the upstream wall of the aqueduct has
fallen away, the spot is picturesque and ripe for photographers of
all ages.
The cache is a silver pill tube, visible from just the right
spot. Bring your own writing piece, as the cache contains only a
paper script. There is no danger involved in retrieving or
replacing. Just note its position to ensure exact replacement.
