Geocache Description:

A multi-stage cache located in the Florida Keys in Layton, on Long Key. About mm 68.1 bayside.

Located in the Florida Keys in Layton, on Long Key, about mm 68.1 bayside.

A multi-cache (one mini, one micro, one regular) located in the tiny town of Layton, Florida, on Long Key. Layton is the smallest incorporated city in N. America (population 185).

This multi-cache is located on the Layton Trail, a nice, but easily missed, small trail that will take you through a hardwood hammock. The whole trail loop can be walked in about 10-15 minutes and will take you through the hardwood hammock to the bay.

There are three stages for this cache: The first stage is a mini-cache (very small logbook). You’ll find a clue card for the second and third stages to borrow from this cache (return the card back to the 1st cache when you’re done).

The second stage is a micro – a film canister. It may be a challenge to find as you’ve got to move something to find it. (The clue card has a scrambled hint, if you want one.) The final coordinates for the third stage are in this cache (leave them in the cache, please). There is a tiny log in the micro, but no pen or pencil.

The third stage is a regular cache. It is a medium tupperware-type container that has room for trading stuff, as well as the main logbook for the cache. You’ve got to sign this logbook to keep credit for the find.

Items first put into the cache are: Logbook and pen, PiperScout 7 TB w/keychain, a Sponge Bob voice recorder, a Power Puff girl bobble, a compass ring, a tiny dolphin, a tiny rabbit, a Halloween popper, a squirting flamingo, a squirting parrot, a bear necklace, a dolphin stuffed toy, a Scooby-Doo maze, a video game, a golden horse charm, and a mini-maraca.
