weikelk: The USFS has a police where althought they do not actively search for caches, if they find a cache they will remove it. This appears to be the case here. The last time I replaced the cache there was significant damage from a recent fire and the cache was completely rusted and the contents charcoal. It was clear that there would be a significant effort to remove fallen trees. The cache was hidden under the root ball of one of those trees, and apparently in the clean up it was removed.
The cache was placed when I had no children. I now have two and getting finding the time for cache maintenance this far away is difficult. I will place a newer cache closer to home.
