Geocache Description:

Gabel El Ingleez (Englishmen Mountain) is the highest point within the vicinity of Bahariya, overlooking the whole oases. It is such a gorgeous view that you will not feel the hours slipping by.

Back during the First World War, and exactly in 1916, Sanusi, a power force emerging from the Libyan Desert and an ally to the Turks, invaded the Bahariya Oases. A coalition of British, Egyptian and Sudanese forces were sent to expel the invading troops. Captain Williams, the British commander officer, built an outpost on the mountains peak (ruins are still there); and this was how the mountain acquired its name.

Well, back to Geocaching, there are three important way points you need to know

Last point accessible by a 4W is N 28 21.466 E 028 53.963

Gabel El Ingleez peak is N 28 21.427 E 028 54.127 with elevation 193m, a very easy scrambling.

The Cache N 28 21.412 E 028 54.120, elevation 183m on the other side of your ascending direction

PS: If you are heading off from Bawiti or Beer El Ghab, you may not need a 4W but it is going to be a bit of length trekking, yet the option exists.

…….enjoy Geocaching with GK & elmoro
