PLEASE NOTE THAT NO CLIMBING IS REQUIRED TO GET THIS CACHE.
Cache is a camo'd small tobacco container with a few small
trading items as well as a log book and pencil. It is located less
than 3 kms from the parking lot along the ski trails. The parking
lot is in the field at N46 19.461 W064 35.354. The cache is also
less than one km from the camp. If you don't wish to ski, you can
snowshoe to the cache but please avoid stepping on the groomed
track.
As explained below, the ski club is on private land. Please
access the cache by the ski trails.
DO NOT BUSHWACK.
The ski trails are on swampy land so it may be difficult to
access this cache in summer. If you wish to access in summer, it
would be a shorter walk (but maybe wetter walk) by accessing the
trails near the Portage cache.
In the mid 1980's a number of neighbours in the Saint Marcel
area got together and created cross country ski trails on their
land, built a camp and created a ski club for their own enjoyment.
They did such a great job that people from all over started to
come. It is now the largest club in the Moncton area. Last year the
club had nearly 600 members and over 20 kms of groomed trails. You
don't need to be a member to ski here. The daily non-member rate is
$2 per person or $5 per family payable on the honour system at the
camp.
There are very few hills so it is good for beginners. The heated
camp is open every day and serves hot meals on weekends. We are
members of the club and we take care of the skibeaver
website The website has detailed maps of the area and
the ski trails
