HANG 'EM HIGH Traditional Cache
4 WHEEL TACO: After many years of replacing the container on this geo cache, we are giving up on it. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

This is the first cache placed by 4 Wheel Taco.
On December 12, 2007 we changed this cache from a small cache to a micro cache.
We placed HANG 'EM HIGH in remembrance of the prisoners hung at Arizona State Prison. The last hanging was on February 21, 1930. Eva Dugan was hung on that date. Due to a miscalculation of weight, Eva was decapitated. Hangings were discontinued after this incident. The gruesome spectacle caused the state legislature to change its execution policy. Lethal gas replaced hangings in 1933.
The Pinal County Historical Museum across the street from the cache has 25 nooses on display. The nooses are displayed with pictures of those who were hung. The reason why there are only 25 nooses for 28 hangings is that one noose was used 4 times. 1 noose was used 4 times because 4 convicts were executed on the same day.

Monday: closed
Tuesday thru Saturday: 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Sunday: 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Closed - July 15 thru August 31
The museum is also closed Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day
