    Area Caching
This event is more about the gettin' together of cachers than making major cache runs, but for those looking to satisfy that itch (we all have it!) here's a small map of the surrounding area's offerings.  Southwest of the event seems to be the most promising, with very little falling in the 15 minute drive zone.  The zones on the map are the 15 minute, 30 minute and 45 minute drive zones from the event.

    (Click For Large Map)

    Base Camp

The event organizers have secured sites 100N-102N to use as "Base Camp" We'll use this as the nexus for socializing and rambunctious-ness; a common gathering area away from other campers.  Drop by to introduce yourself.  Anyone needing to check in for details on Saturday events can also find someone who can help you here.  Probably ;)

Feel free to spend as much time there as you like, organize tutorials there, etc. as you please.

    IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT FIREWOOD
Everyone is probably aware of the problems with the Emerald Ash Borer.  Because of this, the event organizers are arranging to have a truckload(s) of firewood delivered to base camp for use in our social fire and for communal use as well.  No charge but if you can, stop by and see when the truck will come.  We could use many hands unloading and stacking.  Because we'll be providing free firewood and because of the concerns (and potentially STEEP fines) surrounding the Emerald Ash Borer problem, please leave your firewood at home and help us burn what we'll get :)
Here is a link to more details about the Ohio Emerald Ash Borer Regulations
    .

    Friday and Saturday Night Socials

Friday night and Saturday night we will be hosting a social/bonfire at base camp.  There will be beverage and snacky foods and a fire roaring.  Feel free to bring a snack to pass, your favorite beverage, a musical instrument, your newest gadget to show and tell, or whatever you like :)

Saturday & Sunday Morning Coffee & Donuts

We'll be providing coffee and donuts each morning.  Come and have some with us and feel free to bring something to pass.  Saturday morning social will be at the pavilion prior to setup.  Sunday morning social will be at basecamp.

Saturday Events At The Beach Pavilion
As with everything this weekend, there's no obligation to attend the festivities at the pavilion.  A schedule of planned events is available at the top of this page.

    Pot Luck Dinner
On Saturday, July 16th, we will have a massive GeoJamboree including a Pot Luck chow-down and some element of entertainment.  With the number of campers coming this should be quite a culinary experience!  Feel free to bring what you like for the potluck, but if you're unsure... check out the ever useful potluck formula:

    The Secret 3Bees Potluck Formula™
Based on your last name, please bring the following:
    • A-H bring main dish
    • I-R bring side dish
    • S-Z bring dessert
  • Key Notes & Information

    • Reserve a camp site early to ensure that you have a space.
    • This is an event unaffiliated with any particular GeoGroup. Founding members come from Central Ohio, NE Ohio, NW Ohio, and Michigan.
    • The MidWest GeoBash will be like no other Geocaching event you've ever experienced. Be ready.
  • Park Passes
UPDATE:  There will be no park or parking passes for this weekend after all based on new information we've received.

    "Local" Sites
These are for walk-ins. You have to actually appear at the park in person to book them.

    "VIP" Sites
These will likely not be available to us and will be muggle inhabited :) These sites are for people who come and stay at the park all summer or for months at a time to help out with the upkeep, etc.

    Alcohol
Essentially they enforce a no open containers policy. Meaning don't keep it out in sight, don't carry it between sites, and conceal it when you are in your site. Keep the cans or whatever put away and be quiet about it. Anyone seen carrying alcohol between sites or who is overly loud and has alcohol will be "turned in". We're not exactly sure what that means, but we suggest everyone avoid that at all costs. If you bring beverage to base camp, keep this policy in mind as we really don't want to get busted :)

    Projector Stuff
Someone mentioned an outdoor theatre. Turns out, this is the beach pavilion we have reserved.  We will have access to the projection screen for our saturday sessions.

  • CAMPSITE STATUS

We'll be targeting Harrison Lake's North camping area.  This area has electric, but check the reservation page for specifics on each site.  The map below (click thumbnail for full size map) is a map of the main event area.  Each site can have up to 6 campers (people) so if you have room to share post that too so if the sites fill up, someone can hit you up to split the site (and the bill!) with you.  We used to have a map with all the sites filled by cachers marked.  There's a lot.  So instead of keeping that up we've replaced it with a better map of the North area venue highlighting the Saturday pavilion and base camp.
