Dark Hollow Hunt
This cache was placed by Scott726 and Keith (of the Wilkens). Only two people were hurt in the making of this cache
The hunt will take you along the old New London Turnpike. It'll weave along the White trail and give you opportunities to pick up on the Blue, Shenipsit trail. On your way to the cache, you'll pass by remnants of the Old Turnpike (Now disused.).
SEE the ruins of an old gas station, taken over by the forest,
SPOT a tunnel that takes you under the Highway into the center median and beyond!
RUN through the area that is currently in use as a firing range.
None of these things will get you closer to the cache, but they are fun things to do if you have the time.
This is a three stage cache, the first two stages are green waterproof match boxes. The final is an ammo can.
Park at the following co-ordinates: N 41 39.696 W 072 31.194
From there it's about a mile to the final cache with two intermediate stages on the way. Terrain is easy to begin with and it gets progressively more difficult as you approach each new stage. This cache will get you close down to the stream so be careful! Small children should be kept back from both the micro stages. The final cache should not be a problem at all for all ages.
There is a camera in the final stage, please take a picture of you or your group and tell us how many pictures are left!
Since this is a quick collaboration cache, sadly we didn't have time to make our usual FTF package
SNOW ACCESSIBILITY: All stages are snow friendly up to at least 6 inches of snow.
