Laughing Lion Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

EnergySaver: Decided to shut this one down ... it had a good run and it's time to open up the area in case someone else wants to place a hide ... plus I wouldn't be suprised if this tree is history real soon, the years are catching up on it.

Geocache Description:

The "Laughing Lion" is in Lion's Den Park. Check out the new entrance to the park and parking area at N43 20.262 W87 53.300 The container is regular size, hidden in this lion's den and very near the trail. Park hours of 6am to 9pm (strictly enforced and gated). Snow Rating: should be ok to about 1 foot.

Note ... Please hide the cache correctly! When placed correctly, this cache is totally hidden from view and does NOT require any bark or branches to hide it. In it's natural state, this spot easily hides the entire container.  The hiding spot is "shaped" to totally protect the cache from view.  Adding branches or bark makes finding this cache too easy!

Now for the story of the "Ghost Car" ...

This happened about a month ago just outside of Cocodrie, a little town in the bayou country of Louisiana, and while it sounds like an Alfred Hitchcock tale, it's real.

This out of state traveler was on the side of the road, hitchhiking on a real dark night in the middle of a thunderstorm. Time passed slowly and no cars went by. It was raining so hard he could hardly see his hand in front of his face. Suddenly he saw a car moving slowly, approaching and appearing ghostlike in the rain. It slowly and silently crept toward him and stopped.

Wanting a ride real bad the guy jumped in the car and closed the door; only then did he realize that there was nobody behind the wheel, and no sound of an engine to be heard over the rain. Again the car crept slowly forward and the guy was terrified, too scared to think of jumping out and running.

The guy saw that the car was approaching a sharp curve and, still too scared to jump out, he started to pray and begging for his life; he was sure the ghost car would go off the road and in the bayou and he would surely drown! But just before the curve a shadowy figure appeared at the driver's window and a hand reached in and turned the steering wheel, guiding the car safely around the bend. Then, just as silently, the hand disappeared through the window and the hitchhiker was alone again!

Paralyzed with fear, the guy watched the hand reappear every time they reached a curve. Finally the guy, scared to near death, had all he could take and jumped out of the car and ran to town.

Wet and in shock, he went into a bar and voice quavering, ordered two shots of whiskey, then told everybody about his supernatural experience. A silence enveloped and everybody got goose bumps when they realized the guy was telling the truth (and not just some drunk).

…. For the rest of the story find the cache, the ending is on the cover of the log book.

Once you find this cache and get back to your computer, you are REQUIRED to include a joke in your "Found It" log entry ... to make the Lion Laugh ... or else the Lion will send the Ghost Car after you! (Only "clean" jokes please)

Just in case you can't think of a good joke, I've include a bunch of booklets with One Lion-ers in the cache.

Want to hear all these great jokes as they appear, then sign up for leo-geo-jokes.

(Special thanks to "f-trup" for sending me the Ghost Car Story and inspiring me to place this cache.)
