Geocache Description:

This is a short, easy, "offset cache" taking you through the historic old town section of El Segundo. You will have to walk a short block.

The listed coordinates are approximate, and get you near an old-style brick building, on the north side of the street. Believe it or not, this was the police station AND jail for El Segundo until the early 1950's -- crime rate must have been really low then. NOTE the address of this building.

Now go east about 75 yds and then south about 50 yds. On the east side of the street is an old theater which shows old movies, some of them silents. There is a huge theater organ inside, which accompanies the silents, and is played at intermissions of other movies. NOTE the address of this building. Visit the Theater's website.

The cache is located on this street. You need new decimal values for the minutes. Ignore the present decimals (i.e. start with N33 55.000 and W118 25.000) Take the address of the jail and subtract 190 --that's the new Latitude decimals. Take the address of the theater and subtract 103 -- that's the new Longitude decimals. Don't neglect leading zeros--we're talking thousandths here.

Cache is a film canister until the nearby construction is finished The area is fairly popular from 11am to 10pm but most people are inside one of the establishments. If you get thirsty, help is nearby. Hope you enjoyed your stroll.
