Geocache Description:

Small Nara shrine, a few minutes from Kintetsu Kasanui station. Two stops north of Yagi on the way to Nara and Kyoto.

As the nickname suggests, this is a duck pond (in winter, in summer it is a frog pond). It was recently discovered that thousands of years ago this pond was the foundation of a factory that made Ancient Coma Beads. Excavations of a new reservoir from 2008 just to the north unearthed several ceramic fragments and remnants of from the Jomon period when this was a major travel route between Asaka to the South and Nara to the North.
