Everyone in Ross Valley knows this landmark hill, but few have ever seen the views from the top.
Park at the San Anselmo dog park on Shaw Drive, just east of the Red Hill Shopping Center. Walk back toward SFDB until you see the signed trailhead. The trail was completed in 2018 by volunteers and the San Anselmo Open Space Committee. The cache is at the very top, so just keep going up. My GPSr kept jumping around, so this is an average of eight fixes. A hundred years ago there were picnics up here with men in frock coats and ladies in big hats. Today there are occasional homeless encampments and too much trash (a great opportunity to CITO). The cache is small canister, not in plain sight, though the hiding place is prominently visible. Check out the views of Ross Valley, San Anselmo, San Rafael, and way off in the distance, San Francisco. Enjoy. Original cache replaced April 2018 by a camo and moved a few feet west. Cache replaced back to its original location in August 2021 by Geojammers (thanks, bro).
