You want to escape the noise and pollution of the city? Muang Buran
is the right place for you to go. You will find numerous
reproductions of palace halls, temples, stupas, stone sanctuaries
and traditional houses. You can also visit several reconstructed
historical buildings.
You can spend a whole day in this very large park, located in the
south west of Bangkok. Do not forget sun protection!
The park is opened everyday from 08.00 a.m. - 05.00
p.m.
There is an entrance fee of 300 Baht, thai people pay 100
Baht. Believe me, it is worth that!
Muang Buran is easy to reach by Bus.
Take the aircon bus no. 511 (Southern Bus Terminal -> Ratcha
Damnoen -> Panthip Plaza -> Central World Plaza ->
Sukhumvit -> Samut Prakan) to the end of the line (N13°34.652
E100°36.212).
Opposite the entrance of the bus terminal take a songthaew
(minibus) no. 36. It passes the entrance to Muang Buran (N13°32.320
E100°37.360).
We recommend to rent bicycles at the entrance of the park. You may
also use the small park busses (fee ?). It is even possible to
enter by car (fee 50 Baht), but motorbikes are not allowed.
You do not need to carry any food or drinks. Like everywhere in
Thailand there are small restaurants in the park, all low
priced.
You find the cache at N13°32.981 E100°37.963. Beware of
muggles. Thai people are very curious, especially when farang show
unusual behaviour. If worst happens or you just do not find the
cache, for coming here you are always allowed to log a find with a
picture that shows yourself at the statue.
I didn't watch the gps as we went back to Bangkok and we missed
the bus terminal. No problem, line 36 ends at Sukhumvit Road where
we took the 511 in northern direction.
