the cache is located in Artimino, very close to Florence, in the etruscan necropolis of Prato di Rosello

The Etruscan settlement was located on the tops of Artimino hill. The acropolis was in the vicinity of the Villa of one hundred chimneypots (Villa Ferdinanda), while the houses were placed close to the castle .
The most extensive cemeterial area is the one in front of the Masso della Gonfolina (Prato Rosello necropolis) with about ten tombs dating back to the VII century BC and more recent ones.
In the Grumolo Farm, situated to the North East of the Villa Medicea, it was found a tumulus which covered a collapsed chamber tomb and some graves dating back to the V century as it is proved by the excavations which brought to light memorial stones.
In the local "Museo Archeologico Comunale" (Municipal Archaeological Museum) we can admire great part of the findings coming from Etruscan houses (fragments of bucchero vases and sandstone sculptures, ceramics imported from Etruria and from Greece, objects of domestic use, table and cooking crockery, bronze and silver coins, fragments of amphoras for wine and terracotta building material) and from the necropolis ( the famous bucchero censer with an inscription from the tomb of tumulus C of the "Prato di Rosello" , and then two sets of unguentarium
of the 7th century B.C.).

NECROPOLI ETRUSCA DI PRATO DI ROSELLO AREA DEL PODERE DEL GRUMOLO
L' area cimiteriale più vasta è quella che occupa il versante Est, Sud-est del colle che digrada dalla villa Medicea all' Arno, di fronte al Masso della Gonfolina ( necropoli del Prato di Rosello ). Qui sono stati identificati una decina di tumuli con tombe del VII sec. a.C. e sepolture più recenti. Recentemente è stata scavata una tomba a cassone inserita dentro un pozzo profondo, riferibile alla fine del VIII, inizio del VII sec. a.C. Un gruppo di sepolture doveva trovarsi anche nell' area del podere del Grumolo, a nord-est della Villa Medicea. Qui è stato identificato un tumulo che copriva una tomba a camera crollata e danneggiata dai lavori agricoli. Alcune sepolture del V secolo sono testimoniate dal ritrovamento di cippi che ne costituivano il segnacolo.
