International Cache Exchange - Sweden/UK
Stu & Sarah/UK + Mumin & Snorkfröken/Sweden |
 |
This cache was created as part of the International Cache Exchange programme. The box was prepared in Sweden by Mumin & Snorkfröken, and hidden in the UK by Stu & Sarah. Its sister cache is GCJG62 Högholmen - The High Island.
Hidden on the border of Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire, close to Stanford Hall. There are many approaches to the cache - use the map here to find one - probably from Hoton or Stanford-on-Soar. Please stay on public footpaths, don't trespass across private land.
We'd recommend the following: Park at the Packe Arms, Hoton (N52 47.871 W1 09.024) and walk down to the bridleway for a very muddy walk uphill (mind it doesn't steal your boots!) and then fork right and go along field edges.
For a less picturesque walk, but avoiding much of the mud, take the tarmac footpath along the road until you reach the brook at N52 48.288 W1 08.973. Then it's pretty straightforward to the cache site.
By keeping south of King's Brook you will avoid marsh and brambles. There's a crossing just to the west of the cache - so don't worry.
Our route took us on a 2.5 mile round trip.
When Looking for this cache you will need to wear adequate clothing to be able to respect the cache location.
