Geocache Description:

Located on a finger ridge of Waiau Ridge. Probably not as hard as 3.5, but the system really doesn't work for Hawai`i.

Park at the mauka end of the public access to Ka`ahumanu St. If you are lucky there will be no guard at the shack and you can drive all the way to the top. Guard seems to be there only in the mornings to keep hunters out.

Follow the road/trail past the Halapepe Plastic Pot and then follow your GPS. It should take you right to it about 1/2 hour after passing the Halapepe Plactic Pot cache. Right now the trail up Waiau ridge is semi clear, but the trail down the finger ridge is wide open thanks to HTMC and friends.

You can back track after finding the cache or continue on down the ridge until you reach these coordinates:

N 21 25.465 W 157 55.108 This is the "Lunch Spot".

Or there abouts. At this point the trail forks. Take the left and go down thru the grass following the pink ribbons. The trail was last cleared on July 19th, 2008 and should be pretty good for a few months. You will wind up back on Waiau Ridge on the paved road a few minutes past the water tank you passed on your way up. Turn right and you'll be back in civilization in 3 minutes.

Enjoy yourselves, don't get lost or hurt. I'll be uploading some pictures soon and a map. The map can be found at:
