A nice hike up to a Native American vision quest site.
Found this one in Curious Gorge - hike #40 and we decided it needed a cache. Historians suggest that this rock work was created by youths that were toiling, fasting, and sleep deprived in an effort to bring forth visions that would guide them in their adult lives. There are more of these throughout the gorge but this one might have special meaning because it overlooks Memaloose Island and Mt. Hood.
There is a small parking area at N45 42.620 - W121 22.247. There is a "Road Closed" sign and a red mailbox. This is just before you get to Catherine Creek. It is a bit of a hike uphill until you get to the edge of the vision quest area. There are numerous walls and pits visible along the hike through the area.
The cache is an ammo can with lots of goodies. There is some poison oak along the trail but it is easy to walk around it. The coordinates should point at a strange looking living thing. There is some more poison oak in the vicinity of the cache but I think I put it in a non-poison oak area. You stay on the trail until you get to within 100 ft of the cache.
