Hike "above the stars" for beautiful views of both urban and natural landscapes.
The City of Brisbane is known as the "City of Stars" because of the residents' tradition of displaying large beautiful lighted stars on their homes at Christmas time. Many leave their stars up year around. Another reason for the nickname is that San Bruno Mountain acts as a fog barrier, keeping the skies clear while the rest of the Bay Area is overcast.
This camouflaged ammo box cache is high above Brisbane in San Bruno Mountain State & County Park. You can reach the cache from the parking lot trailheads at Park HQ and the summit. There's also a shortcut free trailhead off a residential street in Brisbane at N37°41.066' W122°24.488'. Another free trailhead and trails can be found while seeking the San Bruno Free Way cache.
Please tread gently in the Park, as there are a number of endangered plant and animal species that live nowhere else in the world. Read more at Heart of the Mountain and San Bruno Mountain Watch
