This cache is in San Felasco Hammock State Preserve that opens at
08:00 AM and closes at sundown. Parking is at N29º42.869
W082º27.654 and costs $4.00 per vehicle. Pets on a leash are
allowed. Bikes and motor vehicles are not allowed on trails. Read
the trail head bulletin board and pick up a map. Trails are well
marked and maintained. Muggle traffic can be high at times so use
stealth when grabbing or putting back the cache. The cache is a
little over a mile from the trail head.
This cache is named “Apache” because of the AH64
“Apache” Helicopter our son flew in Afghanistan. We
thank all soldiers, sailors and airmen for their dedication and
sacrifice to this nation so we can enjoy freedom and liberty. The
cache container is an 11”X7”X4” waterproof
camouflaged metal ammo box filled with “Army” type
stuff. Please support our nation and the men and women fighting in
the war on terrorism in any way you can. We have 7 other caches in
this preserve that you might want to add to your hiking plan: The
Freedom Cache, Arrowhead Point Cache, Get Powered Up, Physical
Therapy, Moonshine Creek Micro, Hole In The Trunk Cache and Waters
Crossing Cache. It’s a nice walk and you get to see a lot of
nice scenery and wildlife. You might want to bring your camera
because there are a lot of deer in this preserve and they let you
take their pictures too. Enjoy your hike.
