Geocache Description:

;

This was the first cache that we set way back in January 2005. It has been muggled twice and this is its second resiting. Please feel free to log this even if you found one of its previous incarnations.

The Cache is hidden at Coney's Castle,one of several hill forts in this part of Dorset. It is linked by road and path to Lamberts Castle one mile north and home of a couple of caches.

You will find a small free car park @ N50,46,514 W 002,53.552.

Coney's Castle is thought to have been built to give protection at a time of political unrest between 300-500 BC. The area formed the border between two tribes--the Dumnonii to the West and the Durstriges who occupied the area now known as Dorset.

On a clear day there are great views to three sides and you could well see why these locations were chosen for the Iron Age forts.
