"Holey Tree" Traditional Cache
Hiker1965: Yep the "Holey Tree" this cache was in has pretty much fallen apart and the cache is indeed missing. So I am going to have to archive this one. Thank you to all who have hunted this cache!! I may try to get another one out there in the future.

Located in St.Claire cemetary about a mile north of Colesburg.
The St. Claire parish dates back to the early 1800's when the church was built at this cemetary location. The church was eventually moved into the middle of Colesburg. St. Claire remained a quiet, isolated, country parish until,in 1852, the L.& N. railroad pushed its way through the center of the congregation and over the Muldraugh Range-a triumph of engineering in those days. Most of the land, around which Colesburg now stands, was owned by William Cole and it was for this reason that the L.& N. railroad named this settlement Colesburg. In 1859 the line was completed between Louisville and Nashville. The construction brought in a large number of Irish immigrants, some of whom died of an epidemic and were buried in St. Claire cemetary.When the railroad was opened, section crews to maintain the right-of-way came to live in Colesburg. In 1861 the railroad brought the Civil War to this community when the Union and Confederate forces attempted to seize control of the line. Camps were set up along the tracks, and in the fall and winter of 1867, a hundred thousand troops were stationed between Louisville and Bowling Green. This is a good night time find. Happy hunting.
