Geocache Description:

A baseball themed cache.

The above coordinates are not correct!

Geocaching has many of the same endearing traits as the game of baseball. Both are active games that can be played at a number of levels. Strategy is involved. Both are played outdoors (or at least should be). Playing the games involves exercise. Participants range from the casual to the obsessed, from the young to the elder. For many people however, their enjoyment is greatly enhanced by the statistical aspect of the games. In baseball, we track batting average, earned run average, slugging percentage, winning percentage and so on. In geocaching, we track number of finds, level of difficulty, number of travel bugs, different kinds of icons on our user page, etc. So, in this spirit I am creating a set of baseball themed geocaches. They will begin simple and increase in difficulty. Each cache will contain an item of information required to solve the coordinates of the next cache in the series. All of the caches are located in or near local baseball fields

For this first cache, you have to find answers to the following two questions, both of which should be quite simple, as befits this "singles" cache. The 2004 Seattle Mariners had a disappointing season. The one bright note as the long season wore on was Ichiro's pursuit of the single season hit record. Ichiro eventually got 262 hits, breaking the old record of 257 hits by George Sisler set way back in 1920.

1. How many of Ichiro's hits in 2004 were singles. This number is ABC.

2. How many official at bats did Ichiro have in 2004 to get his 262 hits. This number is DEF

GHI = 1000 - ABC - 141

JKL = DEF + 6

The cache is located at:

N 47 39.GHI W 122 16.JKL

The container is a dark green bison capsule. Please be sure to place it out of direct sight when you return it. Also, be sure to note the baseball player's name at the top of cache log as you will need this to find my next baseball cache.

Once you complete this cache you'll want to continue on in this series with Doublt to Left.
